Television Training Schools

Before World War Two there were a number of radio training schools, both resident and correspondent. In the 30s, many of these schools added television to their curriculum. One of the most prominent was the First National Television in Kansas City (the name was later changed to Midland Schools). Another was the American Television Institute in Chicago, operated by U. A. Sanabria.  The National Schools were located in Los Angeles, as was perhaps the Hollywood Radio and Television Institute. There was apparently a school in Australia, too.

After the war, many schools started television training, including the American Radio Institute and the New York Technical Institute in New York, the Sprayberry Academy of Radio in Chicago and the Capitol Radio Engineering Institute in Washington.
