Postwar American Television Workman B+ Booster
This tube was sold to increase the B+ voltage in TV sets that had aging circuits. It increased the voltage by 30 to 40 volts and contains a 83 mercury vapor rectifier, which produces more DC voltage than the 5U4 it replaces. However, it also creates RF interference, so the tube in this device is covered with a metallic coating to supress the radiation. The tube was donated to the museum by Jay Ballard.
