 Transvision Kit

(click on picture for high resolution image)

(1946 - 7 inch kit)

The Transvision kit was available both with and without a cabinet. The earliest ones were sold without cabinets. The set was made with many prewar and WW2 parts, probably because they were available at very low cost in 1946. Very few of these sets survive. It has a 7 inch picture tube and a 5 channel tuner. Here are some technical details of this unusual set, magazine ads and articles and a Transvision antenna.

This receiver was made by Mark Flomenhoft when he worked for Transvision for a brief time writing the assembly manual. Charles Harper of Paris, KY acquired the set from Mark, and restored it to working order. Charles generously donated the set to the Early Television Foundation so that it can be enjoyed by other collectors.
